Buried Treasure {Sweet and Salty}

Buried Treasure can mean a lot of different things to many people.  Some of us bury time capsules for future generations, kids hide trinkets to play ‘pirates and cops/robbers’, dogs hide their favorite bones.  In my world (short-sighted that it is), the perfect Buried Treasure captures sweet and salty in every….single….bite!  It doesn’t get any better than this snack mix.  Hmmmm, I take that back…..it certainly competes with this recipe.  I first saw this recipe many moons ago in Southern Living.  B and K were little, and I thought it would be perfect for a long car ride to New Hampshire.  It was a huge hit, and I have been making it ever since.  I tripled this batch last week, and brought it to Hilton Head with us….it almost survived the entire week…..crumbs for all by Thursday.
I have tried many different cinnamon sugar cereal brands, and hands down I prefer Quaker Oatmeal Squares with a touch of brown sugar.  It is the big ole’ blue box in the cereal aisle.  Kroger’s like to put it on the top shelf with all of the expensive granola.  I also cannot leave out the teddy grahams.  There is just something so wonderful when you bite into a teddy graham and a goldfish at the same time, and don’t get me started on the m & m’s…….
