I don’t know about you, but when the Fall season hits I need all the help I can get with organization and timesaver’s.
Wouldn’t it be great to be the part of the Brady Bunch and have Alice living with you, taking care of your every need?
What could be better….a person that adores your family, does all of the cleaning, all of the laundry and is basically the family secretary. Does anyone know where I can get my own personal Alice? I have a spare bedroom, the use of a car, all the food that they can eat, but the best part…..they have to be willing to work for free…. I have no $$$ to pay them! Zippo, Nada! Anyone? Oh well…….maybe someday someone will want to take me up on my fantastic offer…..{sigh}!! Let’s be honest….I don’t even think my own mother would jump at this great offer.
Since it looks like I will be channeling Alice for a little while longer, I need to get my ass butt in gear and get organized. Freezing cookie dough doesn’t take too much time (I promise), but pays dividends when you are crunched for time and want fresh chewy cookies such as these, or need them for a base in these yummy treats.
It’s as easy as making a double, or triple batch of cookie dough. You are not limited to chocolate chip cookie dough. Make large batches of peanut butter, oatmeal, toffee crunch….the sky is the limit.
The hardest part of this process? Showing restraint, and not stuffing a half-dozen dough balls into your mouth. LOL!
Your kids will thank you when you quickly whip up a batch of freshly made cookies for the class party that they forgot to tell you about….and oh yeah….they also volunteered you to make 6 dozen cookies for the bake sale tomorrow. Aren’t those dang kids sweet???
This coming weekend, take some time and make up a big batch to freeze…..it is better than any cookie dough fundraiser you have to take part in….homemade…no preservatives….can’t get any better than that!!
How to Freeze Cookie Dough
Ingredients:
Cookie Dough, any flavor
Cookie Sheet or Baking Tray
Gallon Sized Freezer Ziploc Bags
Permanent Marker
Directions:
1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil. Roll the entire batch of cookie dough into balls, using 1 Tbsp, just like you would if you were baking them.
2. Fill the baking sheet with all the rolled cookie dough balls, leaving just enough space between the cookie dough balls that they don’t get stuck together.
3. Stick the filled pan in the freezer. You don’t need to cover it, but make sure to keep it flat so the balls don’t roll around and get stuck together.
4. Freeze the cookie dough, about 1 hour. Meanwhile, take a gallon sized Ziploc freezer bag and label it with the recipe name, date, cooking temperature and time details.
5. Remove the pan from the freezer. Take all of the cookie dough balls off of the pan and place them in the labeled bag.
6. After filling, lay the bag flat (flat takes up less space). Remove as much air as possible. I like to double bag the cookies with another Ziploc freezer bag, but this is a personal preference.
7. Stash the cookies in the freezer for *later*! That’s it….can’t get any easier than this. When you are ready to bake them, line a cookie sheet with parchment paper and lay the cookie dough 2 inches apart. At this time, you can either let the cookie dough thaw, or you can just bake them a few minutes longer. Enjoy!

That’s such a great idea. I was just thinking how I am dreading making a batch of cookies tomorrow for a friend’s birthday. It would be so nice to just pull a few frozen ones out of the freezer and cook them. And what was up with Alice? What was Mrs. Brady doing all day if Alice was doing all the work? I never thought about that until now.

Ok, I’m looking at a relatively “free” weekend (in other words, no Purdue game)–perfect timing for this idea!! Looks like I’ll be making some dough!! Can’t tell you (you already have an idea…) how many times we want to take a batch of cookies somewhere, but just don’t have the time! DUH! How could I not think to freeze some ahead?!? Hey Jen! Make sure you hide them in the freezer. If your hubby is like PT, then the frozen cookie dough will start to vanish! I have already gone through this batch and will be making another next weekend! Boiler Up!!!
