  1. Hi Shauna, I am planning to refinish our stairs just as you did. We have the same carpet over the same pine bull-nosed treads (even a two-story entryway). But our builders screwed the treads down, making larger than nail head holes in the tread. Did you have this issue? Will putty hide the problem? Thx, Karen

    • Hi Karen, You are going to love the stairs when they are done….just keep your patience! 😉 I had a few, but nothing that caused me great concern. I did get the stainable putty (although no putty is perfect) and my advice would be to mix your stain in with the putty first, just make sure you wear gloves, it will be messy!
