Chocolate Peanut Butter Torte + {Nestle TollHouse Delightfull’s}

Are you baking up a storm, getting ready for Christmas next week?  Hard to believe it is only 7 days away!!  EEEEKKKK!  I still have tons of gifts to buy and make!  Why did I wait until the last minute???  Please tell me why???

If you are like me you are starting to plan out your Holiday menu, and for me, the menu sometimes begins with dessert.  I try to think of what people will be craving for sweets, and then work backwards.  Are you a big “centerpiece” kind of dessert person, or do you prefer to have a number of smaller/finger desserts that people can invade whenever the craving strikes them?  I am both, which is why if I am hosting the family for Christmas, I tend to overdue it.  Just a little!!!

While I am confessing my issues, or some would say shortcomings, I should also come forward and confess a long hidden addiction that I have……..

Oooohhhh, now we are getting to the good stuff!!  I know how your mind works.  LOL!

This teeny tiny little addiction of mine is called Chocolate and Peanut Butter! {SIGH}  Is there anything else to say about it?!

I can’t resist, even the smell of these 2 decadent ingredients can pull me in!  HELP!!

I can actually resist when the two are separate…..but the minute the two are combined it is as if the stars have aligned and everything is right with the World!  My World that is!!  😉

Which is why this Chocolate Peanut Butter Torte gets made only on special occasions.

Why?

If you must know, I will eat the entire pan!  I will not only eat the entire pan, I will probably lick my spoon dry, lick the pan….. and you might even catch me licking your spoon dry also!  Told you…….I have a problem!!

I think you will totally understand once you make this dessert for your Holiday gathering!

What made it even better this time?  I added in the new Nestle Toll House Peanut Butter Delightfulls.  Totally brilliant Nestle!  Seriously…..every single peanut butter chocolate chip that I popped into my mouth tasted like a Buckeye!

Peanut Butter Filled Chocolate Chips-Nestle TollHouseYou know what a Buckeye is don’t you?  Peanut butter filling surrounded by mouthwatering milk chocolate.  Enough said!

If I were you I would buy a second bag when making this Chocolate Peanut Butter Torte, as you will find yourself, and your family picking out the morsels and tossing them into your mouth!  I know I did, and PT certainly couldn’t walk by without grabbing a few!

If you are allergic to nuts, no problem!!  Nestle has a solution with their other three Delightful flavors:

  • Milk Chocolate with Caramel Filling
  • Dark Chocolate with Mint Filling (I cannot wait to try these)
  • Dark Chocolate with Cherry Flavored Filling
  • Milk Chocolate with Peanut Butter Filling (a Buckeye in every single bite)

I am so busy talking I am not sharing this yummy dessert!

This recipe was originally shared with me by my dear friend Julie, but it started out as a Chocolate Sundae Dessert.  Perfect for K with his nut allergy, and I have made it gobs of times to rave reviews.  Doesn’t it sound like the perfect dessert to add in a little peanut butter?  Maybe some chopped up nuts also?  That’s what I thought…..you just might have an addiction too!  We are in good company!!

That is how the wonderful Chocolate Sundae Dessert evolved and became the “can’t stop at just one slice” Chocolate Peanut Butter Torte!!

It really is super easy to put together….virtually no baking except for the crust:

Nestle Toll House Peanut Butter Filled DelightfullsThe recipe calls for 3 different bowls.  My recommendation is just use the same one, washing it before moving to the next step.  Unless you have a handy dandy person to follow you around cleaning up your mess!  Now wouldn’t that be something!!

When cutting in the butter, you could make your life easier by using a food processor (1), but it is totally possible with a pastry blender or 2 forks….it just takes a little longer.  I like to stir in the chopped peanuts after (2) so that they don’t get too fine in texture.  (3) Press the mixture in a greased 13 x 9 baking dish.  I like to use a glass one so that you can see the layers thru the sides.  When you pull the crust from the oven, sprinkle the Peanut Butter Delightfulls onto the hot crust and let melt for about 3 minutes; spreading to cover the surface (4).

Chocolate and Peanut Butter Desserts-Nestle Toll House For me Nestle has always been a part of my Holiday baking.  Their new DelightFulls chocolate chips will bring a new twist to not only my treats and desserts, but yours as well.  These morsels are the same great chocolate that we all know and love, BUT they are now slightly larger and filled with 4 great flavor combinations.  Definitely something for everyone….even those of us dealing with allergies. I was thrilled to find them, as they were the perfect addition to amp up my Chocolate Peanut Butter Torte!!

What will you bake with these Nestle Toll House Delightfulls?

Recipe type: Dessert
Serves: 12-18
Ingredients:
  • ½ cup cold butter, cut into wedges
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1¼ cup powdered sugar, split
  • ⅔ cup lightly salted or roasted peanuts, finely chopped
  • ¾ cup Nestle Peanut Butter Filled Delightfulls
  • 1 pkg (8 oz) cream cheese, at room temperature
  • ½ cup peanut butter
  • 1 carton (8 oz) whipped topping, I use Cool Whip
  • 2 pkgs (3.9 oz each) instant chocolate pudding mix
  • 2¾ cup cold milk
  • Optional toppings: Grated Chocolate, Chopped Peanuts and Nestle Peanut Butter Filled Delightfulls
Directions:
  1. In medium bowl mix together the flour and ¼ cup of the powdered sugar. Cut in the cold butter until crumbly; stirring in the peanuts. Press onto the bottom of a greased 9x13 baking dish. Bake at 350 degrees for 18-24 minutes, or until golden brown. Remove from oven and sprinkle the peanut butter filled chocolate chips. Let sit for a few minutes, and then spread the melting chocolate over the crust. Cool completely on a wire rack.
  2. In a small bowl, beat remaining powdered sugar, cream cheese and peanut butter until smooth and creamy. Fold in 1 cup whipped topping. Spread over cooled crust. Put in the fridge to set while doing the next step.
  3. In a medium bowl, combine the pudding mixes and cold milk. Beat on low speed for 2-3 minutes, scraping the bowl down and making sure all granules have been broken up. Spread over the peanut butter filling. Top with remaining cup of whipped topping and sprinkle with grated chocolate, chopped peanuts and peanut butter filled Delightfull's.
  4. Cover and refrigerate four hours, or overnight if convenient.
